HOW WE WORK

We know from decades of psychotherapy research that the most important ingredient for change in therapy is the match between therapist and client. Matching you with the right therapist is important. Finding the right fit should be simple. We start out by offering you a complimentary visit or telephone call with one of our licensed therapists. The therapist assesses your needs, your goals and your preferences. We then use this information to match you with the right therapist. There’s no need to wait weeks to start achieving your goals. Our team works together; if someone is not the right fit, easily schedule with another clinician within our group.

INDIVIDUAL THERAPY

You have a goal you know will improve your life. We help you get there with a comprehensive step-by-step psychological wellness strategy. Our treatment is geared toward building confidence, stronger connections and developing increased self-compassion. We will help you increase SELF-CONFIDENCE that will help you find and build successful personal and intimate relationships

COUPLES THERAPY

You can learn to build a healthy, trusting and successful intimate relationship or marriage. Imagine what it would be like to overcome your fears and discover highly effective ways to find, build and maintain a successful intimate relationship or marriage. Over the past 15 years we have helped individuals and couples gain insight, as well as learn specific skills and strategies that lead to increased confidence and successful intimate relationships and marriages. Our expertise in the areas of trauma and anxiety management will give you the skills and support you need to achieve your goals and dreams. We teach you tools for more effective communication, problem solving and maintaining intimacy and trust. We also provide pre-marital therapy.

ONLINE THERAPY

We provide individual therapy via secure video services. This is a flexible , convenient option and is available to all New York State residents. Services are referred to as online therapy, telehealth or telepsychology. Connection is quick and easy. You will need a web camera and high speed internet. The video platform service we use is secure, encrypted and HIPPA compliant ensuring that privacy and confidentiality are maintained. This is an option for new, as well as existing clients. According to the 1999 Surgeon General’s Report on Mental Health, up to one in five Americans will suffer mental health symptoms at any one and nearly two-thirds of those may never seek treatment. Online therapy seeks to help close that gap.

COGNITIVE BEHAVIORAL THERAPY (CBT)

We utilize the methods and techniques of Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT). CBT is a well-researched, relatively short-term form of therapy that teaches concrete skills to reduce symptoms of anxiety, depression and trauma. CBT involves partnering with your therapist to examine the way in which your thoughts affect your feelings.

Techniques include logging your thoughts, identifying negative patterns, challenging them and replacing them with more accurate and adaptive thoughts. These strategies help to reduce anxiety, depression, as well as increase confidence. CBT also teaches you how to gain control over fear provoking situations by confronting them one small step at a time. Typically, number of sessions can range from 12 – 24. Other techniques include specific relaxation exercises and mindfulness-based interventions. We also utilize and practice the principles of positive psychology.

EVIDENCE-BASED PSYCHODYNAMIC THERAPY

Sometimes referred to as insight oriented or dynamic therapy, this approach allows the therapist to help individuals examine how early-life experiences influence current emotions, thoughts and beliefs. This type of therapy helps to increase insight and awareness of current patterns of behavior. This approach typically requires a longer commitment and number of sessions to allow for the resolution of past conflicts and integrate new learning and behavior. Brief dynamic therapy has also been shown to effect significant change.

GOAL-SETTING

Whatever the vision, goal setting is the roadmap that will get you there. We work with individuals and couples to set and meet goals that lead to transformative outcomes. Achieving success can take result from a few sessions, sustained therapy or intensive treatment. Our comprehensive approach is focused on understanding needs, facilitating positives changes and offering support for lasting success.

IMPLEMENTATION

We help you learn well-researched motivation and coping strategies to reduce anxiety, depressive and trauma symptoms. Each goal is an accomplishment that will bring increased confidence, value and understanding.

MAINTENANCE

We provide strategies to maintain changes for a lifetime. This doesn’t mean that you won’t ever need to revisit the process. What it does mean is that you’ll have the confidence to embrace positive change and to recognize when you need to return to refresh your strategies.
