Simba, Trained Therapy Dog
My name is Simba, and I am the trained therapy dog at Let’s Talk Psychological Wellness! I’m a cocker spaniel-poodle mix, which means I’m a hypoallergenic breed that does not cause allergies. I sit, stay, play fetch, high five, and always love treats. I love to meet new people of all ages and sizes!
Having me around in therapy often helps provide comfort and safety. I’m a very loyal and loving dog. Petting me and letting me sit next to you also helps reduce your heart rate and increase positive feelings.
If you feel uncomfortable with dogs, I will stay home on the days of your session, playing with my dog friends and eating my favorite lamb lung treats. Your therapy is all about you, and I am flexible.
If you do decide to have me join your sessions, there are many benefits you can expect! Therapy dogs have been known to lower physical pain, release calming endorphins, and lower blood pressure. We can also decrease your stress levels and increase socialization and communication.
If you’re wondering how I joined the Let’s Talk family, my mom, Sweta Venkataramanan, is a psychologist there. She trained me and got me evaluated to be a therapy dog because I have always been good with the snuggles. I love coming to work with her and playing and cuddling with everyone. Hope to see you soon!
