Mary Olivia Verhulst, LMHC

The worries that won't quiet down. The intrusive thoughts that follow you into the morning. The feeling that something is dimming, your confidence, your energy, and your sense of what's possible, and you can't quite pinpoint why. If any of that sounds familiar, you don't have to keep finding ways around it. There is a way through, and Mary Olivia can help you discover it.

She works with adults experiencing anxiety, depression, trauma, shame, and the unique pressures of building a career, maintaining a relationship, and shaping an identity all at once. Her clients include professionals in leadership and early-career roles, college and graduate students, and high achievers who appear capable while quietly struggling beneath the surface. She also supports women navigating maternal mental health and postpartum challenges and leads group therapy for those ready to do this work in community.

Mary Olivia has known she wanted to do this work since grade school. From an early age, she had a natural sensitivity to others' emotional experiences, an ability to tune in before she had the words to describe them. That quality, refined through years of clinical training and practice, makes her sessions feel both safe and truly effective. She is warm, collaborative, and vibrant, bringing her full self to every session without judgment. She is also a dedicated self-care advocate and hopes to help you reclaim it for yourself, too.

Her approach is trauma-informed and culturally sensitive, closely attending to how past experiences shape present behaviors, beliefs, and patterns. She customizes treatment to each person's values and needs, using psychodynamic therapy, CBT, relational therapy, and mindfulness practices. The aim is not only to reduce symptoms but also to foster lasting insight, genuine self-compassion, and a stronger connection with oneself and others.
