Therapy for Grief and Loss Can Help You
Grief therapy provides a safe and compassionate space where you can process your emotions, find meaning and purpose in your loss, and develop effective coping strategies to navigate your grief journey.
Self-Compassion Skills
Good for reducing blame and learning to treat yourself with kindness during the healing process. Grief can bring guilt, anger, and harsh self-judgment — therapy helps you respond to yourself with the same gentleness you'd offer a loved one.
Acceptance & Meaning-Making
Good for working towards acceptance of the loss and finding ways to honor your loved one and integrate the experience into your life — not to move on, but to move forward while carrying what matters most.
Resilience-Building Skills
Good for adapting to this loss and finding meaning, as well as building healthy ways to manage triggers, anniversaries, and unexpected waves of grief — so that when they come, you have the tools to meet them with steadiness.
Emotional Regulation
Good for managing the intense emotions that grief brings — sadness, anger, fear, guilt, numbness. You'll learn to recognize, name, and work with your emotions rather than being overwhelmed by them.
Rebuilding Relationships
Good for reconnecting with others and rebuilding trust, intimacy, and closeness in relationships that may have been affected by grief — including learning how to let others support you.
Hope & Forward Vision
Good for gradually rebuilding a sense of hope, purpose, and meaning in your life. Grief therapy helps you begin to envision what your life can look like — and take small but real steps toward it.
A safe, compassionate space to grieve — at your own pace, without judgment
Do I Need Therapy for Grief and Loss?
Grief is a normal, healthy response to loss. We feel hurt, sad, afraid, and lonely when we lose someone because of how much we cared about them. Everyone experiences grief in their own way — some will feel the pain of grief for a few days, some for a few months, and others will continue to grieve for years.
Sometimes the grieving process is delayed. The feelings of loss may not set in for a while, only to emerge once our caretaking responsibilities have ended. In some cases, grief can happen around other types of loss — the loss of a pet, the loss of one's health, or the loss of a relationship.
No matter what brought about your grief, and no matter how long you've been struggling with the loss, therapy can help — especially if grief has begun to contribute to chronic sadness and is negatively and significantly impacting your work or relationships.
Grief therapy may be helpful if you experience:- Grief that feels unmanageable or prolonged
- Difficulty returning to daily life or work
- Feelings of guilt, regret, or intense anger
- Isolation and withdrawal from loved ones
- Difficulty accepting the loss
- Persistent numbness or emotional shutdown
- Disrupted sleep, appetite, or concentration
- Loss of sense of purpose or meaning
Every loss is valid. Every grief journey deserves support — no matter what was lost or how long ago.

Our Approach to Grief Therapy
We use evidence-based methods tailored to your unique experience of grief — your timeline, your culture, and your goals. Sessions are collaborative, non-stigmatizing, and paced to your needs.
-
CBT
Cognitive Behavioral Therapy Used to spot and shift unhelpful thought patterns — such as guilt, self-blame, or catastrophic thinking — that can make grief harder to move through.
-
DBT
Dialectical Behavior Therapy Helps regulate intense emotions that come with grief — including anger, overwhelming sadness, and numbness — so you can stay present with your experience without being consumed by it.
-
ACT
Acceptance & Commitment Therapy Helps you act in accordance with your values even in the presence of pain and discomfort — rather than waiting until you feel "better" to re-engage with what matters to you.
-
PSY
Psychodynamic Therapy Increases insight and awareness — helping you understand how this loss connects to earlier experiences, relationships, and parts of yourself that are grieving on multiple levels.
We use brief check-ins like GAD-7/PHQ-9 to track your progress, and we coordinate closely with any other provider you may have — whether a psychiatrist, nurse practitioner, or primary care doctor.
