Do I need grief therapy?
Grief is a normal, healthy response to loss.
We feel hurt, sad, afraid, and lonely when we lose someone because of how much we cared about them. Even though those feelings are painful, they are also important. Everyone experiences grief in their own way – some will feel the pain of grief for a few days, some for a few months, and others will continue to grieve for years.
Sometimes the grieving process is delayed, particularly when we must take care of others who are also grieving. The feelings of loss may not set in for a period of time, only to emerge once our care taking responsibilities have ended.
